The usual salt restriction is 2 grams per day. People
with Hepatitis C often have a problem with fluid balance. This is
especially true in the case of cirrhosis but is also seen in earlier
stages. Watch for sodium added to canned goods and prepackaged
foods. One ounce of corn flakes contains 350 mg of sodium; one ounce of
grated parmesan cheese - 528mg of sodium; one cup of chicken noodle soup - 1108
mg of sodium; and one teaspoon of table salt - 2,325 mg of sodium! Also watch
your salt intake when you are eating out in restaurants.
